In this post, I will introduce the “Hakkaisan” sake brewery tour in Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture.
I visited in November 2024, and I’ll share my experience of the tour and the tastings.

About the Brewery
Hakkaisan sake is so well-known in Japan.
The brewery’s founder was committed to utilizing the region’s rich natural resources for sake brewing and grew alongside the local community.
While preserving its traditions, the brewery continues to adopt innovative techniques to further enhance the quality of its sake.
Hakkaisan sake embodies the depth and richness that can only be found in a renowned rice-producing region.
Brewery Tour
At Uonuma no Sato, you can tour the sake production process, and there is an introduction to the snow storage room as well.
However, the areas available for viewing may vary depending on the season, so it’s a good idea to check in advance.
Additionally, you can visit the Sarukura Mountain Beer Brewery and the whisky storage facility.
There are also facilities where you can enjoy lunch, sweets, and gelato.
Tasting Options
There are always more than five types of sake available for tasting, along with two types of umeshu (plum wine) and gin.
Price
The tour, including the tastings, costs 500 yen.
Reservation Details
For tours including tastings, reservations are required in advance through the official website. However, you can visit the brewery and take the tour without a reservation.
