Introduction to the Japanese Sake Museum
What is the Sake Museum?
Located within the Kururi Tourism Exchange Center, “Ikita Mizu Kururi Sake Museum” is a facility where you can enjoy local sake from Kazusa Hakkura, a group of eight breweries in the Kazusa region of Chiba.
In this museum, you can explore exhibitions about local sake and also enjoy tasting, starting at ¥200 per ochoko (small sake cup).
Additionally, if you try three different kinds (¥600), you will receive a bottle of Kururi’s famous natural spring water!

What is Kazusa Hakkura?
Kazusa Hakkura refers to eight existing sake breweries in the Kazusa region of Chiba Prefecture.
Sake brewing in Chiba dates back to the Edo period. Thanks to the region’s abundant groundwater and active trade routes to Edo (Tokyo), sake production flourished. In particular, Kururi is famous for its rich, high-quality spring water, which has led to the production of delicious sake for centuries. Even today, these eight breweries, collectively known as Kazusa Hakkura, continue the tradition of sake making.
