Visiting the Komoro Whisky Distillery in Nagano
This time, I’d like to introduce the Komoro Whisky distillery tour, located in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture.
In this article, I’ll share my experience from the distillery tour and tasting session I attended in November 2024.
If you’re traveling in Nagano, this is definitely a spot worth visiting!
About the Distillery
The whisky at Komoro Distillery is crafted under the guidance of world-renowned Master Blender Ian Chang, who was previously involved in Taiwan’s famous whisky brand, KAVALAN.
Because of this, Komoro Whisky has been gaining attention not only in Japan but also worldwide.
Distillery Tour
At the distillery, guided tours of the production area are held every hour.
The tour lasts approximately 30 to 60 minutes and includes:
✅ An explanation of the whisky production process
✅ An introduction to the pot stills
✅ A look at the aging barrels in storage
Enjoy a Special Drink While Admiring the Pot Stills
At the distillery, you can enjoy original cocktails and Komoro Distillery’s unaged whisky while admiring the pot stills.
Since the number of bottled products in circulation is limited, it is rare to have the opportunity to drink it, making it a valuable find.
For an additional fee, you can also enjoy a hamburger and highball (as shown in the photo), as well as pizza and sweets.
Pricing Plans
There are two main plans, and depending on the season, you may also find limited-time pairing options.
① Komoro Experience – ¥2,500
② Komoro Academy – ¥3,800+
Both plans include a guided production tour and whisky tasting.

Conclusion
This time, I introduced the Komoro Distillery tour in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture.
In the morning, the tour had only three small groups, making for an intimate experience. However, the afternoon and lunchtime tours had around 10 groups, creating a livelier atmosphere.
If you’re planning a trip to Nagano, this distillery is definitely worth a visit!
